Hear Our Voices

If the victim of a false allegation; their family, and friends were given the chance to address the false accuser in a victim impact statement what would they say?

When someone is falsely accused of a crime and subsequently found not guilty, or take a plea, they do not have the opportunity to present a victim impact statement. This is because the criminal justice system reserves victim impact statements for those affected by the actions of the convicted individual during the sentencing phase. The falsely accused, despite suffering significant emotional, social, and financial harm due to the allegations, are not provided a formal platform within the court proceedings to articulate the impact of the false accusations on their lives. We aim to change that! Here are ours!
